+ BitSpirit seems to be the fastest bittorrent client I’ve found. Or at least the fastest with a nice looking and easy to understand user interface. It’s about 20% faster than Bitcomet, and uses 60% less processor power than Azureus.

When you’re iin a hurry, or too hungry to wait for food to be prepared, or just want to eat lots of food, buffets rock. One of my favorite places for Indian buffet is New India at Willow and Broadway. It’s the biggest and tastiest in the city. Rebecca and I went there the other day and she was blown away. There were 4 meat dishes, 9 vegetarian dishes, 5 salads, 4 deserts, and piles of papadum and naan bread. Go once and you’ll be hooked.

+ I don’t really expect any of you to suddenly start leaving comments. People don’t typically leave many here, but it’s nice to have the option. Commenting has been disabled off and on for months while I tried various ways of dealing with comment spam. As of today comments are working again, thanks to Eric of Unxmaal. Unxmaal also runs on WordPress. Eric installed Trencaspammer which works by generating a security code that you must type in before posting your comment. Comment spammers use automated programs that can’t do that.

+ The new p2p file sharing app eXeem was released in beta form today. **update: for me it sucked. didn’t connect (not a firewall issue). has such a lame interface that there isn’t even a ‘connect’ button. and as i found out later it installs cydoor. which is quite shitty ad-serving spyware. i accept that they need advertising revenue, but through cydoor?? bad choice. there’s a spyware free version available, also in beta form, called eXeem Lite. will install and test that soon.
**update: they both suck. For now I’ll stick with Azureus as my BitTorrent client, but I’m in the process of finding an alternative. Azureus uses the programming language Java, which for some reason seems to use a lot of resources, slowing my machine by about half. I wonder if it is poorly writtten, or if Java is better used to write smaller applications??

+ Fixed my blog. For some reason WordPress was redirecting giantkicks’ URL to some super-long crazy-assed address. I found a very simple to follow tutorial at the official WordPress documentation site WordPress Codex. It showed how to reset the site URL in the WordPress database using PhpMyAdmin.
