ReadyMade: Feature - Value Pack Lamp
by Steven C. Schmidt
Compact discs are the new junk food. The garden-variety media are cousins to the floppy and zip, but they’re non-rewritable. Translation: If you botch your burn, there’s nothing to do but toss them. Those of us who routinely mix and rip will tear through a 100-pack in less time than it takes to polish off a bag of chips. But don’t start weaning yourself off iTunes just yet. The spindles produce far less waste when compared with the individually wrapped singles, and when the discs are gone, you can turn the plastic casing into mood lighting. It’s a lava lamp for the LimeWire generation.
