+ I haven’t posted what new music I’m loving in a while. Here’s a few of my current favorites:
Superpitcher (tigersushi)) — love the production… fantastic style of carefully crafted electro pop by Aksel Schaufler..Haunting Northern European alienation, melancholy, designer drugs and Champaign. - is it cool? yes. mostly. very.
Ballistic Brothers — I heard them on a radio station I briefly listened to. Can’t remember the station link, sorry. I have a few of their albums now. Yea. Yea. Breakbeats (not breaks, not breaks at all..). Jazzy House. Groovy Soul. London style.
Ascii Disko — Electro Techno Pop. Yeow. Love this stuff by Kat D.D.Rokk. An ex rocker from Slown and Venus Vegas.
Telemen — more great Electropop. Yeah. but not “Yeah, yeah!!”. Just kinda nod the head. Eyes closed. Say “yeah.” Open your eyes look off into space. Make a “mmmmn” sound. That’s it. Now get up and dance. Telemen.
Pre fade listening — Need to chill out after dancing? Need some sweet, sweet, sweet downbeats. Sooth yourself with these sounds rubbing your tired muscles. Warm hottub at night, outside. Candles and quiet conversation…Laying on sand, drunk, with friends. Barely moving, you’re all so drunk on red wine. Everyone smiling. No one cares about tomorrow’s hangover. Cop comes. Chases you off the beach. You manage to get somewhere. Someone manages to put music on. Someone finds more booze. Some people pass out. It just goes on and on…
Triosk meets Jan Jelinek — Jan Jelinek makes ominous glitch that drones on. He must have a stethoscope that he uses to listen to city streets, factories, and perhaps electronic devices. Well he and these Jazz guys hung out and made this. It’s actually quite listenable.
Dub in France (31 dub tracks. 2003) — what can a person say about dub. It’s good for you. Not like cough syrup. Like sex. This is French sex.
London Lounge (CD1 and CD2) — ahhh. Sofa surfin’. Reading a book. A magazine. Thinking about something. Catching the groove. Nodding your head. Tapping your toes/fingers. Answering the phone. Telling them “that? Let me look. It’s..uh..London Lounge Cd2. Sure, I’ll make you one…”
Felix Da Housecat-devin dazzle and the neon fever — Holy crap! How does he do it? The guy just keeps producing some of the hottest electropop of the half-decade. As Ariadna said in a recent phone conversation “it’s like this excellent soundtrack from a movie”. - I’m not the greatest at remembering literally what people say, but that’s the gist - Ariadna is freaked out over this one. Said she’s listened to it nearly thirty (?) times and still loves it. - is Ariadna crazy? How can you listen to something that much and still be sane? Well. It is pretty awesome.
I’m not listening to it as much these days, maybe five more times since we talked. But holy moly is that album the best album I’ve ever heard. He’s still an awful DJ though. And I’ll never forgive him for writing on my shirt and then not doing an interview with me.
