Military, Fraud, Compac. Color Picker, Illusion.

+ A civilian working for the Canadian National Defence and a sales rep for Compac/Hewlett Packard are being invesitgated for “serious billing irregularities.” The defence department has probably been defrauded of some $90 - $160 million dollars as a result of phoney invoicing for computer hardware support and services. - one of the fraudsters is now living in the Turks and Caicos…were I in charge, and moneys not returned, this person would have an accident. As would all the people involved in the other multi-million dollar scandal. These two scandals amount to nearly half a Billion dollars in theft. Is there a government on the planet that isn’t suffering unending fraud? What checks and balances do they have that we don’t. In Canada, our judicial system is well known for slapping hand punishment. - should we learn from the enlightened Israelis and flatten the property of all the relatives of these fraudsters? Maybe that would deter more crimes here…

+ I had to use a colour picker (Aaron Isotton’s ‘AI-Software - Smart color‘) to verify that what looks like two very different shades of grey are identical. A nice optical illusion. [via: Alex King]
